What happens if you have a problem

The accuracy of the profiles depends on all the stages in the process being followed carefully and a fully functional printer. We offer comprehensive settings recommendations to assist you and can answer queries by email. If you still have problems we will ask you to send a screen dump of your workflow and a test image.

What profiling will not fix

Despite what some people may explain, unfortunately profiling isn’t black magic and has some real world limitations. Custom profiling won’t fix :

  • Fading and other environmental effects which change the ink and paper characteristics over time.

  • Meaturism (the effect where the appearance of colours change under different lighting conditions.

  • Different lighting effects unless specifically design for these conditions

  • Colours that it is impossible for your printer to print. For example very intense blues are difficult for many printers to achieve, profiling will not suddenly ‘upgrade’ your printer to produce these !

What can you expect

  • Significantly improved colour accuracy when compared to non profiled printing.

  • Profile that are specifically built for your printer, your choice of ink and paper.

  • Significant reduction in wastage costs for paper and ink.

  • Significantly improved B+W printing, although B + W prints using colour inksets will never give 100% neutral results particularly under varying light conditions.

Pre-requisites

  • A calibrated monitor will ensure you print what you see ( Hardware calibration will produce better results than s/w techniques like Adobe Gamma ). While not 100% necessary if you are just printing with no editing, but most people edit to an image they like the look of.

  • A functional printer without blocked heads or nozzles.

  • Image Editing or printing s/w that supports colour management such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro & Qimage

 

Windows and Mac OS

Profiles generated by Colourperfect are cross platform compliant and can be used on either a Mac OS system or Windows.

For a Windows system right click on the profile file and select install. For a MAC OS system have a look at the following application note from Adobe.
